Foodie Business

About the Foodie Business blog

Wandering the streets to eat in Manila, I love quaint restaurants that offer undiscovered dishes and wonderful talent. But I give a frustrated look at the service that isn’t as prompt as one wants them to be, the menu scattered with an international fusion bonanza and the chef doesn’t seem to know the difference between rare and well done. I sigh, stuff myself (ungratefully) and pay the bill – never to return.

Though I have no culinary training, I love food, armed with a discerning nose and palate, and could proudly say my overwhelming collection of cookbooks and food literature hasn’t stopped my thirst to uncover the funniest smelling cheese, the most delicious burger I could find, why chicken intestines taste down right yummy, and why a restaurant is a restaurant.

But in spite of my occasional food-gasms, I am deftly passionate about doing business, developing new brands, knowing how consumers think and act, managing events, branching to new networks, and mastering the art of naming. Currently employed as brand maverick in a radical consumer goods company having offices in Manila, Thailand and Indonesia with products ranging from sunblocks, baby laundry detergents to lubricants, there is always a point in any business strategy that being foodie is always an advantage.

As you will read on this blog, we will try to feature new restaurants on both food-side and business perspective as well – throwing hints of branding, positioning and service. The occasional business feature – yes. Lessons in cooking – will try. Branding and mentors – definitely. With this blogging venture, I am able to share to you a delectable affair between food and commerce – having fun while at it.
